Movember

It's hard to believe but 2013 is coming to a close, Halloweens over and it's really starting to get colder and now its all about Christmas, November has always been the long boring in-between month, however in recent years its become more commonly known as Movember.
I thought that Movember was a relatively new concept however the phrase was first coined in 1999 (!!) in South Australia. Since then its come a long way and has raised both money and awareness. For those who don't know what it is (you must live under a rock) Movember basically involves males growing moustaches and facial hair for the whole of November in order to raise awareness for mens health issues such as prostate cancer and other cancers. This year even the Mr Men have got involved! (I kid you not)
We all know that men aren't as open as women when it comes to talking about bodily issues so Movember is a great way of tackling this problem. Its also a nice treat for us ladies.
Worldwide the charity has raised over £100 million for mens charities, to find out more info or donate visit uk.movember.com. So what are you waiting for boys?!
Below are some of my favourite bearded men for you, I'd love it if you shared yours or if you have a beard yourself! (you can never have too much Billy Huxley)

Beckham Causes a Stir at Belstaff Opening

A lot of fashion week seems to of been dominated by the man candy this year. First David Beckham broke a million hearts with baby Harper at Victoria’s show in New York then Harry Styles caused pandemonium when he attended Burberry Prorsum and House of Holland.
Beckham outdid all that hands down on Sunday evening, the whole on Bond St was bought to a standstill by the opening of the new Belstaff store and everyone was expecting a ‘special guest’. David Beckham arrived to celebrate the opening leather clad riding a motorcycle, sounds like any girls dream huh. Its clever thinking on Belstaff’s behalf as David Beckham is one of the biggest stars in the world, women want to sleep with him and men want to go to the pub with him (and probably sleep with him too) in fact I’ve yet to meet a person with a bad thing to say about Mr Beckham which makes him the perfect candidate to endorse a brand. Men look up to stars such as David Beckham and tend to imitate celebrities instead of looking towards the catwalks for trend advice.  I expect well been seeing Beckham out in a lot of Belstaff soon, and its more than likely well start seeing boys sporting Beckham quiffs and black leather jackets in no time.

Do Men Buy Clothing or Fashion?

Its been said that the majority of males don't both with catwalks or mensweek and instead prefer to look towards celebrities and sporting personalities when deciding how to dress. There are them men who are interested in fashion but it is the majority of men who don't know anything about fashion and instead style them selves around their personal icons such as David Beckham. However it seems that in recent years mens fashion week has grown in popularity and there is a stronger emphasis on mens fashion.

However for the time being it seems famous figures are still the go-to for campaigns etc. David Beckham's line for H&M saw an increase is sales of mens underwear and bodywear. Tom Daley is sponsored by Adidas for $750,000.
Tommy Hilfiger recently announced that he would be pulling out of mensweek even though menswear counts for 60% of their sales, they have claimed that they will be seeking other avenues to promote menswear. So perhaps mensweek wasn't bringing enough sales in for them, maybe they should consider a celebrity endorsement.
Either way anything that inspires men to dress well can't be a bad thing!
